o Read David Guterson’s “The Mall as Prison” (pages 450-457).
o On a sheet of paper, practice quotation techniques using the article. Provide two (2) examples for each of the three techniques discussed in class:

1. Appositives before a quote
2. Use of ellipses to reduce a quote down to essential language
3. Use brackets to clarify an otherwise vague pronoun

Also, Response 2 will be handed out on Thursday, and Response 1 is to be handed back!
